How to link Dropbox, Google Drive and One Drive
You can use your cloud storage account to store all your files and easily link these files or folders from your cloud storage to Adviser CRM. The real benefit is that cloud storage us much cheaper and easily transportable away from Adviser CRM, not that we want you to do that!
You can link your cloud storage files and folders to any Module in Adviser CRM such as an Account, Contact, Policy etc.
The most popular method is to link your cloud storage Folder to an Account.
Dropbox:
Copy a cloud Dropbox Folder to an Accounts Module in Adviser CRM. Below is a screenshot showing you how to copy a Dropbox folder. Open your file browser in your computer and browse to your Dropbox folders and copy the folder you want to link.
Find the folder you want to link to Adviser CRM then RIGHT CLICK on the folder, which will show a menu similar to the screenshot below.
Next step is to open the Account you want to link your Dropbox folder to and go to File Attachments. Click + to add a new file attachment, then click Link (URL)
Next, paste your Dropbox link into the URL field.
Click Attach after you have pasted your Dropbox link into the field.
Your Dropbox folder is now linked to our Account and any additional files you add to that folder in Dropbox will show when you click the link. To open the folder just click the link, and your Dropbox folder will open and show all the files inside your client folder.
- Remember, this is a link only from your client folder in Dropbox to your client Account in Adviser CRM. Your files are still stored in Dropbox and not Adviser CRM.
- Any time you want to view your clients Dropbox folder just click the link and it will open your Dropbox folder for that client.
OneDrive
Follow the same steps like Dropbox above but the screenshots below will show you what the screens will look like in OneDrive
Browse to your OneDrive Files and Folders on your computer and RIGHT CLICK select the folder you want to link to, then click click Share
Click Copy Link
Then Click Copy
Open the Account you want to add the Attachment link to and click Attachments > Link URL
Right click your mouse and click Paste in the URL in the pop up window Attach From Link screen and click Attach.
That's it, your OneDrive folder will be linked to the Account inside Adviser CRM and when you click the link, it will automatically open your OneDrive folder for that client.
Google Drive
Follow the same process as above, but when you copy the link from your computer make sure you copy your Google Drive link or OneDrive link and follow the rest of the steps to link to Adviser CRM.
Links to other Modules
You can link your Cloud Storage folder to any module in Adviser CRM, wherever you can attach files, you can link your cloud storage folder. There is no right or wrong module to link to, it is just a matter of preference, but linking to the Accounts module makes it easier to find every time, so you don't have to remember which module you linked to your cloud storage folder.
