How to add files to client records
You can attach files to most modules, but mostly you are going to add files to Contacts, Policies and Loans but you are not limited to these modules. In the tutorial below we will show you how to add a file to a policy. In this case a copy of a proposal to the life policy.
How to upload a file for internal storage.
Open a Life Policy and click the Attachments link on the side and you will jump down the page to the Attachments section
Next, hover over the Attachments link until a small + sign appears and when it does, click Upload File
You will get a pop up screen that will allow you to add multiple files at once, but in this example, we are only going to add one file. Click the centre of the pop up file attachment screen.
The next screen you will see is something similar to the screen below. Browse on your computer to the file you wan to attach, and double click it. Or select the files you want then click Open/Attach (depending on what computer you are using).
Once your file has finished uploading you will see the size of each file and the Attach button is enabled for you to finish the upload into Adviser CRM. Click Attach.
You will see the file you attached.
How to add a file from cloud storage
Adviser CRM allows you to upload files physically into your account, which will eventually use up internal storage and you may have to buy larger storage. Adviser CRM also allows you to use Cloud Storage links such as Dropbox, OneDrive and Google Drive.
Since cloud storage into Adviser CRM is only a link, it does not use any of your allocated storage on your account, plus, Cloud Storage companies generally provide generous file storage capabilities for what they charge.
Follow the instructions below.
The first thing you need to do, is copy the Cloud Storage file link so we can paste the link into Adviser CRM. The screenshot below shows that we are synchronising Dropbox to a local computer, so all files are kept on Dropbox and our MacBook Pro.
Here we copy link from a Dropbox account using an Apple MacBook Pro, but keep in mind that your computer screen may look different. OneDrive and Google Drive may also look different.
If you need any assistance with your Cloud Storage, please contact them directly for any user or technical assistance.
Copy the cloud storage link from your computer. In this case Copy Dropbox Link and with a MacBook Pro using a touchpad, we have to use two fingers and tap the touchpad that shows the options you see in the screen below. Usually, you can right click the file to show a similar menu that gives you a Copy Dropbox Link option.
Go to your attachments section, in this case the Life Policy where we want to copy a link into Adviser CRM. Click Link URL
The next screen you will see is a small pop up box with an empty field (see screenshot below)
Click inside the empty field, then right click your mouse or touchpad so you can see an option to paste. When you see the word paste, left click it and that will paste the link you copied from your Cloud Storage account.
You will see the pasted link after you click paste, then go ahead and click Attach.
You can see the difference between an uploaded file which has a little icon to show you what type of file you attached which is in this case a PDF file, and you will see the icon on the other file shows a link which means that is a cloud storage file like Dropbox.
That's how you add or link a file to a record inside Adviser CRM.
